Alavés dealt injury blow before Villarreal

La Liga outfit Deportivo Alavés have on Tuesday been dealt a fresh blow on the personnel front.

This comes amid confirmation that Carlos Benavídez is set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.

Midfielder Benavídez was for his part forced into a premature departure from Alavés’ weekend meeting with RCD Mallorca.

With just a quarter of an hour on the clock, the 26-year-old pulled up clutching the back of his left leg, immediately calling for a substitution.

And, as alluded to above, on Tuesday, an update on his wellbeing has come to the fore.

As per a statement across Alavés’ website and social media platforms, Benavídez has suffered a hamstring injury, expected to keep the Uruguayan out of action for several weeks:

‘Carlos Benavídez has suffered a hamstring tear in his left leg. The player suffered the injury during the last match played in Mendizorrotza against RCD Mallorca. He has begun rehabilitation treatment and is awaiting further development.’
