Ajax make bid for Gerónimo Rulli

Ajax are keen to sign Gerónimo Rulli this January and have submitted a bid to bring the goalkeeper to Amsterdam, report Marca.

Ajax find themselves three points behind league leaders Feyenoord in the Eredivisie and head coach Alfred Schreuder is keen to strengthen his goalkeeping department.

The Dutch outfit currently rely on veterans Remko Pasveer (39) and Maarten Stekelenburg (40) as first-choice and second-choice goalkeepers respectively.

Ajax have identified Rulli as their number one target for the winter transfer window and have already submitted a bid in order to secure his services for the rest of the season. However, according to sources, the bid is nowhere near the €10m price tag that Villarreal have put on the Argentine keeper.

The 30-year-old has a contract with The Yellow Submarine until June 2024 and gave the following response when asked about a potential departure:

“I’m not very aware of the situation. But that’s for the club to decide and I have a contract. I have been and I am happy here. Thank God we have a great group and obviously we want to keep improving.”
