A head-turning statistic surrounding the respective goalscoring exploits of two of La Liga’s leading strikers has come to the fore this weekend.
This comes after the pair, namely Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kylian Mbappé, endured altogether different fortunes in their most recent outings.
In the case of the former, en route to Deportivo La Coruña securing an impressive victory at Villarreal, the former Arsenal man laid on an assist before netting the winning goal late on.
Kylian Mbappé, on the other hand, endured an evening to forget on Saturday, missing a whole host of presentable goalscoring opportunities, as well as a late spot-kick, as Real Madrid were put to the sword by Real Betis.
Both players, all told, have now found the net four times across the first four rounds of the La Liga season. ‘Auba’ and Mbappé, though, have done so in vastly contrasting fashion…
As revealed by journalist Albert Ortega:
‘Aubameyang has 4 goals in LaLiga, the same as Mbappé. The Deportivo de A Coruña forward has needed 13 shots. The Real Madrid forward has needed 31 shots. Aubameyang is 37 years old.’
