A 2nd member of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has sent an apology message the way of the club’s fanbase.
This comes fresh off another disappointing defeat for Carlo Ancelotti’s troops on Wednesday night.
After making the trip to the Basque Country for a meeting with Ernesto Valverde’s Athletic Club, Real were ultimately put to the sword by two goals to one.
This marked a 4th defeat in seven across all competitions for the struggling Blancos.
Several leading members of Ancelotti’s squad were partly to blame for the result at San Mamés, with Kylian Mbappé, after missing his 2nd penalty in the space of a week, having been quick to take to social media to issue an apology:
And, as alluded to above, the Frenchman has since been followed in as much by teammate Federico Valverde.
Midfielder Valverde was for his part responsible for the game’s decisive moment last night.
After being caught in possession whilst needlessly attempting to dribble out from the back, the Uruguayan international opened the door for Gorka Guruzeta to net the winner for Athletic inside the closing ten minutes.
Usually so reliable, Valverde, in turn, took to his own Instagram account, to post the following heartfelt message:
‘Today has been a hard hit, but I take the blame, turn the face and apologize. For my colleagues and fans. I know it’s football and things can happen, but they’re not strangers to me and I didn’t want to stop expressing myself for the mistake I made. There’s still a long way to go, many competitions and I’m sure a lot of joy. Thank you. HalaMadrid’
