290 Atlético Madrid fans refunded after refusing to attend Liverpool-Atlético Madrid Champions League tie

290 Atlético Madrid fans were refunded their money after refusing to attend the Champions League tie between Liverpool and Atlético Madrid on March 11, according to AS. Liverpool refused to refund the money themselves, so Atlético have covered the €17,000 cost.

The fans decided not to travel to England with the Spanish government urging nobody to travel due to COVID-19.

With the match being played at Anfield, the revenue from the tickets was received by the Merseyside club, and because they’ve refused to return the cost of the 290 unused tickets to Atlético, the La Liga side have covered it themselves.

Atlético have also refunded the cost of 4,500 tickets, which had been purchased for upcoming La Liga matches
