2 highly-regarded Barcelona cousins make club history

Two up-and-coming members of the youth setup at La Liga giants Barcelona this weekend secured for themselves a piece of history.

As much came owing to developments in Barca Atlètic’s meeting with Ourense on Saturday.

Albert Sánchez’s troops marked their return to action last night, eyeing a first win of the 2024/25 campaign.

And, when all was said and done, this is precisely what Barca managed, ultimately emerging on the right side of a comfortable 3-0 scoreline.

Amongst the goals for the Blaugrana on the night, remarkably, were two cousins, in the form of Toni and Guille Fernández.

The two Spaniards, still just 16, found the net for the first time in their respective Barca Atlètic careers, mere minutes apart against Ourense.

And, in the process, the Fernández cousins made history.

As per a release across the club’s website and social media platforms, Toni, at 16 years, one month and 23 days old, is the youngest player to ever score for Barcelona’s reserve team.

And cousin Guille, whose goal on Saturday was laid on by Toni, is the 3rd-youngest Barca Atlètic goalscorer ever, at 16 years, two months and 21 days of age.
