An insight into the plans of Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernández to shake up his starting XI for the club’s showdown with Real Madrid has been provided late this evening.
Barca, of course, will mark their return to action on Sunday night.
After booking their place in the tournament showpiece courtesy of a 2-0 downing of Osasuna during the week, the Blaugrana will go head-to-head with arch rivals Real Madrid, for the Supercopa de España title.
In the buildup to the clash, the aforementioned Xavi has been forced to deal with a number of personnel issues, with the likes of João Cancelo and Raphinha ruled out, and Pedri still working his way back to full fitness.
In turn, it has been suggested in the media that Barca could shift things around for the upcoming Clásico, both to ensure that no fresh injuries are suffered, and to keep Carlo Ancelotti and his staff guessing.
And, late on Saturday evening, an insight into such plans has been forthcoming online.
The info comes courtesy of Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Xavi readying a four-man midfield setup for tomorrow’s final.
İlkay Gündoğan and Frenkie de Jong will make up two of this quartet, the guarantees in Barca’s engine room.
The remaining two spots, though, will be fought for by a trio of stars, namely Pedri, Sergi Roberto, and Fermín López.
