A pair of former Barcelona stars proved themselves decisive, en route to the Blaugrana’s shock defeat at the hands of Las Palmas on Saturday.
Barca of course marked their return to action a short time ago.
In search of a first La Liga win in three, the Blaugrana welcomed lowly Las Palmas to Catalunya’s capital.
And, when all was said and done, it was the latter who emerged on the right side of a hard-fought 2-1 result.
Rubbing further salt in the wounds of all of a Barcelona persuasion, meanwhile, is the fact that two of those to have shone brightest for the visitors previously plied their trade at the Camp Nou.
First up was Sandro Ramírez, who, after first leaving Alejandro Balde floored and subsequently stretchered off owing to a heavy challenge, went on to open the game’s scoring early in the 2nd-half.
And, at the other end, also impressing for Las Palmas was Jasper Cillessen.
The shot-stopper, who spent three years on Barcelona’s books between 2016 and 2019, conjured up a number of fine saves over the course of the 90 minutes, to ensure that the visitors emerged from Montjuïc with a memorable three points.
