2 Barcelona cousins called up by Hansi Flick for pre-season

Two highly-regarded up-and-coming members of the youth setup at La Liga giants Barcelona have been afforded call-ups to the club’s first-team squad for pre-season.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Guille Fernández and Toni Fernández as the players in question.

Guille and Toni, as evidenced by their surnames, are actually cousins.

The former is a gifted 16-year-old midfielder, who has been learning his trade in La Masia since back in 2018.

Toni, meanwhile, is a striker, a year younger, who is also capable of playing out wide.

Both have long been held in high regard behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital, viewed as potential future first-team stars in the making.

In turn, it should perhaps not come as a major surprise to hear of new Blaugrana head coach Hansi Flick having decided to give both a chance to impress in pre-season.

As revealed by Barca insider Toni Juanmartí of Sport:

‘Guille and Toni Fernández were present today under the orders of Hansi Flick.’
