2 Barcelona, 1 Real Madrid: Kopa Trophy nominees announced

The nominees for the latest edition of the Kopa Trophy have on Wednesday been unveiled.

And players from Spanish football’s two biggest clubs feature front and centre.

Barcelona boast a pair of nominees, including the widespread favourite for the prize, in the form of winger sensation Lamine Yamal.

And joining his Blaugrana teammate in the running for the accolade is close friend and fellow La Masia graduate Pau Cubarsí.

Turning attentions towards Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid, Arda Güler, despite a difficult debut campaign in Spain’s capital, is the sole representative.

Also named amongst the 10-man strong shortlist are the likes of Mathys Tel, Savinho, and Manchester United pair Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.

The Kopa Trophy, for those not aware, is handed out an annual basis at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, to the standout player under the age of 21 across world football.

The current holder is Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham.
