Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney drops hint on Real Sociedad future

Real Sociedad loanee Kieran Tierney today dropped something of a hint regarding his future with the club beyond the summer.

Left-back Tierney, of course, made the move to Anoeta last summer, as part of a season-long loan from Premier League high-flyers Arsenal.

And the Scottish international has since gone on to endure something of a hit-and-miss stint on Sociedad’s books, on his way to 20 appearances across all competitions.

Though Tierney has largely impressed when on the pitch in the colours of La Real, his ongoing fitness problems, once again, have proven a hindrance.

The widespread understanding, in turn, is that it is unlikely that the powers that be in San Sebastián will sanction a permanent move for the 26-year-old in the summer.

And, speaking to the media on Friday, Tierney himself also hinted that as much is not on the cards.

During an interview with talkSPORT, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, the former Celtic man was drawn on a whole host of topics, surrounding his stint in Spain to date.

And one such response on Tierney’s part has since turned heads, after the defender pointed to his time with Imanol’s squad being headed towards an imminent end:

“Honestly, I am living an incredible experience, I am enjoying it. It is sad that there is so little left, only six or seven weeks until we finish the season.”

Pressed further on the prospect of linking back up with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal for next season, Tierney continued:

“In football, you never know. It’s quite strange that you come back on your own like Saliba did. It is strange to have played on loan for four years and come back to play. Football is crazy, so we’ll see what happens. I don’t talk to Arteta, he is busy there.”
